TWO HANDS BREATHING EXERCISE…

There are a number of different breathing exercises that can help reduce and manage stress in our lives…This one uses the physical touch of our hands to help focus our attention.

Place your right hand on your belly and your left hand on your chest and close your eyes…and now focus your attention on your left-hand on your chest…Recognizing our attention can go anywhere we direct it…we could focus it on our feet touching the floor or our back resting against the chair…. However, right now I’m asking you to allow your attention to focus where your left hand is touching your chest…and now…on your next in breath…I want you to imagine that your breath is coming into your body where your left hand is touching your chest…

Just imagine as you breathe in that the air is coming in through your left hand into your chest and notice the feeling of your lungs gently filling up with your breath and your diaphragm expanding…

and…on the exhale….I want you to imagine that your breath is going out through where your right hand is touching your belly…and gently release your breath through your right hand…

…so let’s do it again…allowing  the in breath to flow in through your left hand on your chest and notice the feeling of your lungs gently filling up with your breath and your diaphragm expanding …and again on the exhale….imagine that your breath is going out through where your right hand is touching your belly…

(COMPLETE  3 ROUNDS) …with your eyes still closed…just allow your breath to return to normal and allow your attention to focus inside your body and notice what has changed…and  notice any sensations that you are feeling after this simple breathing exercise….And now you can gently open your eyes and bring your attention back to the room….What did you notice???
